Yellow Pine, Idaho

Yellow Pine is a historic small town located in the rugged mountains east of McCall.  The town of Yellow Pine has a general store with gas and couple restaurants  / taverns that will take you back in time!  Accommodations for overnight visitors are also available.  From Yellow Pine, visitors can tour other routes in the rugged backcountry including to currently operating and historic mining sites such as Stibnite Mine and Cinnabar Historic Mine.

There are two routes to get to Yellow Pine.  The northern route over Lick Creek Summit and along the Secesh River and South Fork of the Salmon River provides an easy, enjoyable and picturesque adventure for UTV, ATV and motorcyclists as well as autos.  This route takes approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours depending on speed and stops along the way.   This route is maintained in the summer months only.

The southern route is the main rout for autos and goes through Warm Lake from Cascade, Idaho.  It is paved to Warm Lake then turns to dirt through Johnson Creek to Yellow Pine and maintained year round.  Both routes are two lane the entire way.
