Payette Avalanche Center (PAC) is offering the following avalanche awareness and training classes in McCall, Idaho:

  • Avalanche Awareness – Know Before You Go – 6 pm Tuesday, Dec. 27th, 2016  – A great refresher to get your avy brain tuned up for the year, also a great place to start if you are thinking about going into the backcountry. Class is at the McCall Ranger District.
  • Intro to Avalanches for Skiers and Snowmobilers – Friday / Saturday, Jan. 6th & 7th, 2017” – This is a two part class that includes a 2 hour classroom session starting at the McCall Ranger District with a 4-5 hour field session held at the Upper Elevation Snowmobile Lot for snowmobilers and near Brundage Mt Ski Area for the skiers.

Snowmobiler Caught in Avalanche Near McCall

Avalanche Victim Getting Unburried Local snowmobilers set off a fairly large avalanche that buried one snowmobiler near Granite mountain just north of McCall during the winter of 2014. Click the following article link for a full write up and photos of the avalanche.
